Selling Notes


  • Thainstone Specialist Auctions offers a straight forward, efficient and convenient means of selling your vehicle.
  • Vehicles can be included, free of charge, in the TSA advert which appears in the local press.
  • Entries accepted at Thainstone Centre, during office hours and Saturdays 10am - 12noon.
  • Registration Document & MOT Certificates (if applicable) are required to complete entry.
  • Complete your entry form, answering the questions accurately. A reserve price may be placed at no extra charge.
  • A low cost collection service is available on request.
  • Thainstone Specialist Auctions staff are on hand to offer guidance, if required.
  • Your vehicle will be sold to the highest bidder during the course of the auction, assuming the reserve price is reached.
  • It is not even necessary for you to attend the auction.
  • If your vehicle is unsold, it can be left in our secure Vehicle Compound and entered in the following sale.
  • A cheque will be sent to you for the full amount, minus commission within 7 days of sale.
  • Sellers Charges
    • 8.5% on first £1000 + 4% thereafter
    • Minimum Commission £30 - Maximum Commission £150
    • Unsold Handling Charge(on each vehicle entered but unsold)
      - £10 for first two sales
      - £10 per sale thereafter
      (VAT will be added to the above charges)

Buying Notes


  • Buying a vehicle through TSA couldn't be simpler.
  • Vehicles can be viewed from 4.00pm every Monday & Thursday at Thainstone Centre.

    (VAT will be added to the above charges)
  • All vehicles have details of their make, model, year, mileage and documentation displayed on the windscreens, along with their warranted or non-warranted status.
  • Expert staff are available to offer guidance which is available at the sale, or by contacting us.
  • Once decided on a vehicle, when it appears for sale, bid clearly to the auctioneer by raising your hand.
  • A deposit or full price of the vehicle is due on the fall of the hammer. This should be made by cash, switch, bankers draft or certified cheque to the rostrum clerk. Credit cards accepted up to £500 unless by previous arrangement.
  • If a deposit is left, the outstanding balance should be paid by 12 noon on the day following the sale.
  • The full purchase price of the vehicle must be paid, and cheques given time to clear (usually 5 banking days) before vehicles are released from our secure compound.
  • All sales are conducted under our Motor Vehicle Conditions of Sale
  • All vehicles sold are subject to an HPI indemnity check which ensures vehicles are not subject to Finance Agreements, Stolen or involved in Major Insurance Claims.
