Sun Shines On Thainstone Saturday Sale

 

A record sale was held at Thainstone Centre on Saturday with over 3,500 lots forward.

Over 1,400 bidders were registered for the Saturday sale of plant, machinery, commercial vehicles and building and horticultural equipment at Thainstone Centre on Saturday (May 30).

 

Top price on the day was a Centre record of £66,000 for a 2004 Cat 33tonne 330 CLME tracked slew excavator. 

 

A 2005 JCB 3CX four wheel drive back hoe excavator realised £23,000 and a 2003 Volvo EC140 tracked slew digger sold for £16,000.

 

Other notable lots included a 2002 Fermec 860 four wheel drive back hoe excavator at £12,800, a 1994 Massey Ferguson 390 four wheel drive tractor with loader which sold for £11,500 and a 1998 Manitou 1330 SL four wheel drive telescopic handler which realised £9,500. 

 

In addition to the 110 entries in the tractors and plant category, over 165 4x4s and commercials were sold including an LDV Maxus 3.5t cdi van which sold for £5,300 and a 2004 VW Caddy SDi van at £3,900.

 

There were 553 lots in the implements and farm machinery section and amongst these notable lots included a 16tonne Lindon grain trailer which sold for £8,300, a Fraser 12tonne silage/grain trailer which at £5,200 and a Vicon 3000HPC mower which made £2,800.

 

There were 137 trailers and containers entered and amongst these a Hobby 620 5 berth touring caravan sold for £4,000, an Ifor Williams triaxle livestock float attained £2,500 and a Brian James 16x7 tilt bed car transporter sold for £2,400. 

 

Alan Hutcheon, Aberdeen & Northern Marts deputy general manager said: “On top of the superb weather, we had a fantastic day at Thainstone with a marathon 34 hours of auction time clocked up by our team of nine auctioneers. 

 

“We were delighted that we broke the record for an individual lot with the top price of £66,000.  It was clear that good quality farm machinery and implements met a high demand from an outstanding audience of 1,400 registered buyers from across the North east as well as England, Ireland, Caithness, Orkney and the Shetland Isles.”
