Scotch Premier Stage Successful Carcase Show

As part of the Spring Show, Scotch Premier Meat was the venue for a carcase contest recently.

Judging the carcases was Aberdeen butcher, Andy Gordon of Andrew Gordon Butchery and Find Foods.

He chose, for his winner, a Limousin cross steer graded U+4L from Auchtydore Farms.  The animal had been bred by John Thomson, Nether Muirskie, Durris and purchased from Euan Fettes, Braes of Enzie, Buckie at the Aberdeen Christmas Classic, held at Thainstone Centre in December.

Andrew praised the standard of entries to the contest: “It was a really tough choice to make in each category as the standard was so high.  I’m happy with the champion though as it had everything I was looking for.”

The reserve overall champion, and heifer champion, came from A Fraser, Atrochie, Ellon whilst the reserve champion steer was also from Auchtydore.

The prime hogg championship went to Shona Milne of Parkdargue, Forgue, Huntly with reserve to Angus Greenlaw, Sheep Park, Bridge of Marnoch.

The inaugural pig carcase contest was won by Mark Strachan, West Balquhain, Inverurie.
