Single Farm Payment Sales Kick Off Successfully
Aberdeen & Northern Marts’ first 2009 sale of Single Farm Payment entitlements, held on Friday (January 16) saw a strong start to the series.
A total of 454.38 units were sold with a top price of £1,020 per unit for 81.20 units valued at €456.07, a multiplier of 2.8. Top multiplier was 3.0 for 25.03 units, valued at €329.46, attaining a price of £780. The values were based on the agricultural payment conversion rate of €0.7903 to the Pound.
Over 40 bidders logged onto the eBid@LiveAuction system which allows remote bidding, via computer, from almost any location. There was also a good attendance of bidders in person reflecting the interest in the sale.
John Gregor, Aberdeen & Northern Marts’ general manager commented: “Our national sales are regarded as the benchmark for SFP trading and no doubt the strength of the Euro and clarification on future modulation rates have helped the sale.
“The level of interest shows there is clearly plenty of demand for future sales and we are looking forward to the next sale of entitlements which will take place at 2pm on Friday January 30.

Thainstone Set For First SFP Sale Of 2009
The first in the 2009 series of Single Farm Payment entitlement sales to be held by Aberdeen & Northern Marts will take place at Thainstone Centre, Inverurie on Friday (January 16) at 2pm.
Aberdeen & Northern Marts pioneered the national auction sale of SFP entitlements and the sale is widely recognised as the barometer for trading.
There has been huge interest from buyers with many potential bidders already registered for the sale for remote bidding.
The sale will include 464.23 hectare units of standard entitlement up to a value of 456.07 Euros per unit.
There has been interest in the sale from across the country and in addition to buyers attending Thainstone in person, there is the option to bid via the eBid@liveauction system.
The ebid@liveauction system allows buyers the unique opportunity to bid from almost any location into the live sale. Those wishing to use this system should register at least 48hours in advance of the sale.
