Alan Craig Takes Over ANM Reins

Alan Craig took over as Chief Executive of ANM Group on Friday (May 1).

Mr Craig, 47, replaced Brian Pack OBE, who retired from his post after almost 19 years in charge of the Thainstone-based farmer-owned co-operative.

Previously general manager with meat business ABP, Mr Craig has been in the meat industry since leaving school.  He is widely respected in the red meat industry and is involved with various industry bodies, including Quality Meat Scotland (QMS).  He is due to take over the presidency of the Scottish Meat Wholesalers.

Mr Craig said: “ANM Group is one of the largest farmer-owned businesses in the country and its diversified nature has seen it well placed to tackle the current economic challenges with an excellent financial base and committed workforce.

“I look forward to exploiting opportunities the current situation brings and look to maximise return to our shareholders whilst continuing to expand the many aspects of business.”

Brian Pack added: “I can retire from ANM Group confident that it is in good hands.  I am looking forward to having more time at my disposal whilst having new challenges.”

Mr Pack’s PA, Helen Simmers, has also retired from her post.  She has worked with Mr Pack throughout his time at ANM Group.  Mr Craig’s executive assistant will be Judith Taylor who joins the Group from the financial industry.

ANM Group Ltd is one of the largest and most progressive farmer-owned agri-businesses in the UK and plays a major role in Scotland's agricultural economy.

The Group is totally committed to its core business of livestock marketing and meat processing yet is a highly diversified business with interests in the land market, non-agricultural auctions and the catering/hospitality industry.
