Bike business kick-starts at Thainstone Centre

Thainstone Centre, more commonly known for agricultural business, is expanding its horizons with a new addition: motorbike parts and accessories business Two Wheel Parts.

Based within the main concourse of the Centre, Two Wheel Parts is owned and operated by Bert Sharp, a familiar face in the North east motorbike scene.  Bert has over 50 years experience in the trade and is joined by Craig Oddie, who previously worked with Bert at his motorbike sales and service centres.

James Petty of Aberdeen & Northern Estates, who handled the leasing of the unit within the Centre, commented: “I think Two Wheel Parts will be an excellent addition to the Centre.  As well as serving the motorbiking community, the business will provide a useful service for farmers through supplies of quad bike parts and accessories.”

Bert added: “I will be selling motorbike parts, clothing, lubricants and cleaning supplies and boots, helmets and other accessories.  I’ll also have quad bike and scooter parts and accessories.

“I think Thainstone is an ideal location for my business: the Aberdeen biking community is very strong and I’m sure riders will enjoy a run out to Inverurie to visit us – with so much parking on site it’ll make life much easier for them too.  I’m sure the farmers will look for quad bike parts – who knows, some of them might take up biking too!”

Two Wheel Parts joins other Centre businesses, Turriff Agri Parts, Clydesdale Bank, Towns & Carnie, Harbro, NFU Scotland, Ledingham Chalmers and SAC.

New Manager At Aberdeen & Northern Estates

Ian MacLennan has been appointed general manager of Aberdeen & Northern Estates, taking over from John Rhind who will now work part time as a consultant to the firm.

Ian qualified as a Chartered Surveyor after graduating in Estate Management from the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester.

Having worked at A&N Estates for the past 20 years, and prior to that with a leading firm of chartered surveyors, Ian, 52, has a wide knowledge of the industry, the business and the local area.   He is married with two children and lives in Aberdeen.

Ian commented: “I am delighted to take on this position and thank John for his hard work over the years giving me a stable platform to work from.

“Obviously, the property market as a whole is undergoing big changes at the moment but as well as property sales and valuations we also offer land and estate management services, all aspects of surveying and consultancy so I think we are well placed to cope with the challenges ahead.”

Brian Pack, Chief Executive of ANM Group, said: “John Rhind did an excellent job in building the business and we are delighted his expertise will still be available to the company and to Ian.

“Ian is the ideal candidate for the job as he knows the business and many of our clients.  He has plenty of energy and enthusiasm to drive the business forward in these interesting times.”

A & N Estates are a leading provider of rural estate agency services including property sales, valuations and estate management as well as all aspects of rural practice surveying.
