STRIKING BRONZE FIGURINE ATTRACTS TOP PRICE

A unique bronze figure by a 19th Century French sculptor fetched a top price of £1100 at Thainstone Specialist Auction’s (TSA) latest antique sale this week.

The bronze figurine, Hound with Pheasant, signed by Paul Edouard Delebrierre (1829-1912) - a member of The Animalier School, Paris – was just one of the notable items at the quarterly antique sale held within the Exchange at the Thainstone Centre.

Speaking after the sale Thainstone Specialist Auctions auctioneer Scott Naismith said he was delighted with the way the sale went.

“The event was very successful and attracted a lot of interest. The bronze figure was valued at £800-£1200, so we were very pleased with the price it went for. Another item which fetched a good price was a beautiful Victorian table which went for £800, and a set of dining room chairs which fetched £480.”

Other leading prices included £320 for a fine carved oak chair, £320 for an oak-cased wall clock by James Hardy, Aberdeen, £420 for a walnut-cased Vienna wall clock with single weight and £260 for a gilt framed oil painting entitled “Harbour Scene”.

TSA is now preparing for its next event, a whisky and whisky memorabilia sale at Thainstone Centre, Inverurie on Saturday, December 08.

The event will include a wide variety of whiskies representing most of Scotland’s distilleries. In addition will be numerous lots of memorabilia including jugs and collections of miniatures.

SPARKLING WEEKEND FOR THAINSTONE CENTRE

It was a busy start to the month at Thainstone centre, Inverurie as the venue played host to a colourful fireworks display and Christmas craft fair last weekend.

The bumper Crafters Christmas Cracker, which featured over 80 stalls, attracted the crowds to the centre’s Thainstone EXCHANGE as people searched for early festive gifts for friends and family.

Meanwhile the Inverurie Round Table bonfire and fireworks display wowed the crowds as thousands of spectators braved the chilly evening to see the colourful display which raised more than £3000 for charities in the area.

Inverurie Round Table’s Iain Troup said: “It was a great turnout; around 8,000 people came on the evening to see the display. Feedback has been extremely positive and we are already looking ahead to next year’s event.”

Laura Poppe, Thainstone Centre events manager added: “It really was a fantastic weekend with lots going on in the Thainstone Centre. Both the Crafters Christmas Cracker and the round table bonfire and fireworks attracted large numbers of people, making it a tremendous start to the festive season.”
