ANNIVERSARY SHOW AND SALE TO KICK OFF A BUSY 2008 AT THAINSTONE

The 2008 farming year will begin at Thainstone Centre, Inverurie on Friday, January 04.

Marking 18 years since the opening of Thainstone Centre, the anniversary show and sale is once again sponsored by award-winning Sauchen-based haulage firm Henry Thomson & Sons.

The event traditionally attracts a strong entry of around 1,300 cattle and this year is set to be no exception. The 2008 event will be judged by Philip Simmers, Backmuir, Keith.

Classes for singles, pairs and pens of four will be contested, with the exhibitor of the overall champion to receive the Perpetual Trophy and £100. A prize of £50 will go to the exhibitor of the overall reserve champion and a further £50 will be awarded to the consignor of the home-bred champion.

Commenting on the New Year show and sale, Aberdeen & Northern Marts’ store and breeding cattle manager John Angus said: “A large turnout of top quality cattle will ensure a great start to our calendar of events for 2008.

“The anniversary show and sale is always a very popular occasion and marks the start of a new year of livestock events at Thainstone. We look forward to welcoming a strong entry on January 04.”

The show will begin at 8.30am and the sale will start at 10am with a presentation of trophies at 12 noon.
