TWO ANM Group employees were honoured for their hard work and dedicated service this week.
>Loading bank supervisor Allister Duncan and direct lamb marketing manager Graham Sim were both presented with 30-year
service awards at the Group’s annual Directors’ Christmas lunch on Monday.
Mr Duncan, who hails from Insch, joined Aberdeen & Northern Marts as a yardsman at the then Insch mart in 1977 before
moving to the Thainstone facility in 1990. Here he became responsible for the loading banks and the lorry washing facilities –
a task he has continued to head up over the years. He also has a keen interest in the Saturday implement sales and holds
responsibility for the small equipment and hand tools section.
Meanwhile, Mr Sim joined the mart as an office junior at the Kittybrewster facility in May 1977 where he was responsible
for various administration duties, including writing cheques, filling sales rolls and keeping the blackboards up-to-date with
forthcoming sales information.
Progressing to clerking for the auctioneers, Graham moved from poultry sales to store cattle and prime sheep, and in 1985
got his break into livestock selling before becoming lamb marketing manager in 1991. He also has an instrumental role in the
E-bid live auction system at Thainstone and still keeps his hand in at auctioneering.
Speaking at the lunch, Aberdeen & Northern Marts’ general manager John Gregor said: “I am delighted to be able to present
these Border Fine Art pieces to such dedicated and hard-working members of the team.
“Both Allister and Graham are steady, reliable men who have worked hard to establish this part of our business, providing
an excellent service to many of our loyal customers over the years.”
