| 13th December 2006 - TSA’S top tipples More than 300 lots of whisky and memorabilia were sold during an auction held by TSA at Thainstone Centre, Inverurie at the weekend. Saturday (December 9th) saw upwards of 200 registered bidders take part in the annual auction. There was a great deal of activity on the remote bidding system, eBid @ live auction with a number of lots bought by the online bidders. Top price of the sale was £300 which was paid for three separate lots – a boxed Laphraoig vintage 1976 single Islay malt, a Bowmore Islay malt in its original box and with certificate, and a Bowmore 200th anniversary 1779-1979 bottle. Meanwhile, £260 was paid for a set of five Chivas Regal Salute ceramic decanters and a bottle of Macallan Special Private Eye 1961 fetched £250. In addition there was a large selection of bottles ranging in price from £100 to £200, and miniatures reaching a top price of £75 for a collection of 50. Commenting on the sale of whisky and whisky memorabilia, TSA
general manager Grant Rogerson said: “This auction offered
an excellent selection of rare whiskies which were of great interest
to all buyers, whether they were adding to existing collections

The event on Saturday, December 9th is being held by TSA and will include a wide variety of whiskies representing most of Scotland’s distilleries. In addition will be numerous lots of memorabilia including jugs and collections of miniatures.

Commenting on the sale, TSA general manager Grant Rogerson said: “This annual sale of whisky and whisky memorabilia is one of the key dates in our busy sales calendar and we look forward to offering a great selection of lots. The event regularly attracts a good turnout of enthusiasts, and this sale is set to be no exception.”
Viewing takes place from 9am on Saturday, December 9th and the sale will commence at 11am. |
