August 2006 - Large turnout for seventh annual sale of Border Fine
Arts
Buyers turned out in force for Thainstone Specialist Auctions' seventh annual sale of Border Fine Arts pieces at the weekend.
Scores of interested enthusiasts were joined by 100 registered bidders from as far afield as Cheshire and the Highlands to pack into sale ring two for the auction of 200 varied lots depicting wildlife, nostalgic scenes and various aspects of farming and rural life. The top price of the day was £1,650 which was paid for "The Fergie" with a rare vintage Aberdeen-Angus bull realising £1,400 and a piece entitled "Full Cry" fetching £1,050. "A Major Decision and "Gone Away" each sold for £1,000. "We were delighted with the turnout and the variety of pieces offered for sale at this year's auction," said Zandra Black of Thainstone Specialist Auctions. "Many buyers travelled a long way to view and buy, and one bidder who has recently started collecting Border Fine Arts left with a number of pieces to add to his collection. "The additional option of being able to use our eBid@liveauction remote bidding system was undoubtedly a great attraction to buyers who were unable to attend in person but were still able to bid on their chosen lots."
