Press Release(Issued on behalf of the Kintore School Celebrations committee)

Tickets are selling fast for an event which will mark an important milestone for a local school.

Kintore School is to be replaced with a new building which is to open before the end of the year, and to mark the occasion a group of former pupils have decided to lay on a weekend of events celebrating the history of the original school.

The celebrations will kick off with an open day at the school between 11am and 4pm on Saturday, September 17th, giving former pupils and staff the chance to take a trip down memory lane.

Refreshments will be available and organisers would welcome items of Kintore School memorabilia to form a display on the day. Entry to the open day is free, and entertainment is to be provided by the school choir and Kemnay Academy’s band. In addition, a book on the history of the school has been compiled by P7 pupils and it is hoped that copies will be printed in time to sell on the day.

And the Saturday evening will see guests gather for a night of nostalgia at the popular Thainstone EXchange function facility.

Commenting on the event, Thainstone Centre events manager Laura Black said: “We are delighted that there has been such a positive response to this evening and we are pleased to be involved in this historic occasion for Kintore School.”

Organising committee member Joyce Reid added: “Although tickets are still available they are selling quickly and we would advise that anyone planning to come along gets their ticket now.”

Tickets for the evening– which will include dinner and live music from top band Slinky – are priced at £22 each and can be obtained from kintorereunion@aol.com or by calling Joyce Reid (nee Lawie) on (01467) 633250 or Joyce Ewen on (01330) 860988.
