QMS Chairman to open Christmas Carcase Show

Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) interim chairman Donald Biggar is to open this year’s Christmas carcase show at Scotch Premier Meat Ltd in Inverurie next month.

The event on Monday, December 5th at the company’s North Street premises has attracted entries from some of the area’s top beef, lamb and pork producers and it will be attended by leading high street and wholesale butchers from throughout the UK.

Many of them will stay on for the 2005 Aberdeen Christmas Classic – Scotland’s premier two-day winter farming event – which will take place at Thainstone Centre on Monday, December 5th and Tuesday, December 6th. Bank of Scotland heads the list of local and national sponsors, which also includes QMS.

Commenting on the Scotch Premier Meat Ltd Christmas carcase show, Donald Biggar said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to take part in what is undoubtedly a fantastic showcase of the unique quality of beef, lamb and pork produced by the Scottish industry.

“Events such as the Carcase Show and the Christmas Classic are an excellent way of bringing the different sectors of the industry together so that we can share information on ways to further improve the eating quality of our products and send out a positive message to our customers on the world class production standards of our industry.”

This year’s Christmas carcase show will be judged by award-winning Isle of Lewis butcher Charles Macleod and Rodney Macken of Macken Brothers, Chiswick, London. It will open to the public at 1.30pm with the official opening by Mr Biggar to take place at 2pm.
