Press Release
(Issued by the ANM Group Ltd on behalf of the RNCI)

The Royal Northern Countryside Initiative (RNCI) is calling on the artistic skills of primary and secondary school pupils in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray.

The RNCI has launched a competition to design a new logo for the organisation and pupils are being asked to put their ideas on paper in a competition which offers a prize of £200 to the school producing the winning design.

Entrants must design a logo which can be reproduced on a variety of literature. It must symbolise the work of the RNCI and the importance of education and awareness of the countryside among children and young people, as well as highlighting the area covered by the organisation (Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray).

Commenting on the launch of the competition, RNCI chairman George Skinner said: "The RNCI provides valuable resources to schools as well as offering a vital channel through which the profile of agriculture and the countryside can be raised.

"We hope that this competition will fuel the imagination of both primary and secondary school pupils of all ages and that, by creating a new eye-catching logo, the work of the RNCI will catch the attention of even more people."

All entries for the competition should be sent to RNCI project officer Sheila Stuart at Mains of Durn, Portsoy, Banff, AB45 2XT and should arrive no later than December 21st, 2005.

Press Release
(Issued by the ANM Group Ltd on behalf of Inverurie & District Round Table)

Plans are hotting up for a Hallowe'en Bonfire and Fireworks display at Thainstone Centre, Inverurie next Saturday (October 29th).

Inverurie & District Round Table is heading a group of local organisations - including Kintore Community Council - which are helping to stage a family night of fun that will be rounded off in style with a bonfire and fireworks display.

From 4pm, a host of family activities will be on offer including a children's fancy dress competition from 5pm, a neep lantern competition, entertainers and stalls. The bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm and the fireworks will start at 7pm.

A parking charge of £5 per car will apply and the money will be used towards the staging of the event with any profit to be distributed by the Round Table among local charities and good causes.

Grampian Police are urging people planning to attend the event to arrive in plenty of time, and to co-operate with the traffic management arrangements that will be in place on the night.

The arrangements are being overseen by Inverurie-based Inspector Dave Allan, who explained: "Special constables, traffic wardens and police officers will be on duty from 5pm to assist people entering and leaving the car parks at Thainstone Centre.

"Drivers approaching from Inverurie and Kintore will exit the Thainstone roundabout in parallel then merge into one line of vehicles. They will then be directed towards the main car park and should follow the instructions given by parking stewards. "No waiting" restrictions will apply on the roads around Thainstone Centre and vehicles parked outwith official parking areas are liable to be towed away.

"Pedestrians should obey the officers on duty at the roundabout and on approach roads, and follow their instructions in crossing these busy roads safely."

Parking for disabled guests will be available near the Barn & Bushel restaurant but will only be open to vehicles displaying official disabled badges.

Inspector Allan also called on members of the public to remain patient when leaving the parking areas at the end of the event, adding: "Delays are inevitable and drivers are asked to remain polite towards the volunteer parking stewards and be prepared for significant delays in leaving the area."

Press Release
(Issued by the ANM Group Ltd on behalf of Inverurie & District Round Table)

Thainstone Centre is gearing up for a Hallowe'en Bonfire and Fireworks extravaganza on Saturday, October 29th.

Inverurie & District Round Table has teamed up with a variety of other local organisations - including Kintore Community Council - to stage an evening to remember which will culminate in a spectacular fireworks display.

From 4pm, a host of family activities will be on offer including a children's fancy dress competition from 5pm, a neep lantern competition, entertainers and stalls. The bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm and the fireworks will start at 7pm.

A parking charge of £5 per car will apply and the money will be used by Inverurie & District Round Table towards the staging of the event. Any profit will be distributed by the Round Table among local charities and good causes.

Commenting on the event, local Round Table chairman Mark Copland said: "There will be lots and lots of things to see and do, and the emphasis will very much be on children and families.

"We have decided on October 29th so that Inverurie has the first bonfire and fireworks in the area and we hope that this will encourage people to attend. They will be able to come along and enjoy our display and also enjoy fireworks elsewhere on November 5th, if they want to.

"It is a very expensive event to stage so we hope that the charge for parking will help cover our costs and secure a fireworks display for Inverurie and Kintore in future."

Iain Blair, Kintore Community Council chairman added: "We are delighted that the event is going ahead and we are very supportive of the organising team, particularly Mark Copland who annually puts in a lot of work to this event."

Thainstone Centre events manager Laura Black said: "We look forward to this event which has become a popular fixture on the calendar at Thainstone. We hope that the various activities on offer will encourage lots of people to come along and make a night of it."
