Press Release
(Issued by the ANM Group Ltd on behalf of Inverurie & District Round
Table)
Plans are hotting up for a Hallowe'en Bonfire and Fireworks display at
Thainstone Centre, Inverurie next Saturday (October 29th).
Inverurie & District Round Table is heading a group of local
organisations - including Kintore Community Council - which are helping to
stage a family night of fun that will be rounded off in style with a
bonfire and fireworks display.
From 4pm, a host of family activities will be on offer including a
children's fancy dress competition from 5pm, a neep lantern competition,
entertainers and stalls. The bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm and the
fireworks will start at 7pm.
A parking charge of £5 per car will apply and the money will be used
towards the staging of the event with any profit to be distributed by the
Round Table among local charities and good causes.
Grampian Police are urging people planning to attend the event to arrive in
plenty of time, and to co-operate with the traffic management arrangements
that will be in place on the night.
The arrangements are being overseen by Inverurie-based Inspector Dave
Allan, who explained: "Special constables, traffic wardens and police
officers will be on duty from 5pm to assist people entering and leaving the
car parks at Thainstone Centre.
"Drivers approaching from Inverurie and Kintore will exit the Thainstone
roundabout in parallel then merge into one line of vehicles. They will then
be directed towards the main car park and should follow the instructions
given by parking stewards. "No waiting" restrictions will apply on the
roads around Thainstone Centre and vehicles parked outwith official parking
areas are liable to be towed away.
"Pedestrians should obey the officers on duty at the roundabout and on
approach roads, and follow their instructions in crossing these busy roads
safely."
Parking for disabled guests will be available near the Barn & Bushel
restaurant but will only be open to vehicles displaying official disabled
badges.
Inspector Allan also called on members of the public to remain patient when
leaving the parking areas at the end of the event, adding: "Delays are
inevitable and drivers are asked to remain polite towards the volunteer
parking stewards and be prepared for significant delays in leaving the
area."
