STORE CATTLE - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (21st May) sold 864 store cattle and 11 young calves.

Bullocks (424) averaged 176.7p (-9.7p) (421kg) and sold to 250p per kg for 234kg Charolais and Simmental crosses from Crossroads, Rothiemay and £1,200 gross for an 828kg Simmental cross from Mill of Auchintoul, Aberchirder.
Heifers (400) averaged 173.5p (+0.2p) (378kg) and sold to 233.6p per kg for 244kg Charolais and Simmental crosses from Crossroads and £1,060 gross for a 706kg Simmental cross from Mill of Auchintoul.
Bulls (40) averaged 166.3p (+8.8p) and sold to 222.2p per kg for 216kg Simmental crosses from Chapelton, Dellavaird and £770 gross for 502kg Charolais from Birkenbower, Lumsden.
Young calves (11) averaged £225 and sold to £340 gross.

"Quality considered all classes met a sharper trade".

STORE, BREEDING and FEEDING SHEEP - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (21st May) sold 2,704 ewes with lambs at foot, store lambs and feeding sheep.

Ewes with lambs at foot (1,343) to £86 for Mule hoggs with single lambs from Bogiebrae, Rhynie.
Ewe lambs (67) to £102 for Suffolks and Texels from Newton of Crathie, Ballater.
Island lambs (13) to £138 for Texels from Little Howes, Holm.
Store lambs (385) to £78.50 for Suffolks from Skeibhill, Aberchirder.
Feeding ewes (896) averaged £65.89 (-£1.97) to £123 for Continentals from Netherton, Clatt.

“All classes of ewes and hoggs with lambs at foot sold exceptionally well. Feeding ewes saw a very similar trade to last week, with mid range and leaner ewes meeting the best trade.”
