STORE CATTLE - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (14th May) sold 1,587 store cattle and 10 young calves.

Bullocks (862) averaged 186.4p (+ 2.5p) (420.4kg) and sold to 250p per kg for 200kg Charolais crosses from Little Millbrex, Fyvie and £1,115 gross for 686kg Simmental crosses from Auchorthie, Maud.
Heifers (649) averaged 173.3p (- 3.3p) (367.4kg) and sold to 291.2p per kg for 182kg Limousin crosses from Backmuir Trading, Keith and £970 gross for 552kg Limousin crosses from Carnoch, Buckie.
Bulls (76) averaged 157.5p (+ 1p) and sold to 301.4p per kg for 146kg Limousin crosses from Backmuir Trading and £1,010 gross for 578kg Limousin crosses from Uppermill Farms, Kintore.
Young and weaned calves (10) averaged £335 and sold to £350 gross.

"Good quality cattle still maintained recent high rates but overall a more end of season show".

BREEDING CATTLE - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (14th May) sold 232 head of adult breeding cattle including four bulls.

“Leading price and a new centre record of £4,800 was paid for a five year old BB cross cow with an Autumn born Limousin cross heifer calf at foot from Smallburn Farms, Mayne, Elgin and sold to noted north showman John Smith, The Rowans, Brora. Top quality units met an excellent demand throughout.”
