THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (4th May) sold 341 head of adult breeding cattle including three bulls.
At the East Coast Viners sponsored show and sale of commercial beef breeding cattle, judge Wilson Peters, Cuilt Farmhouse, Monzie awarded the Championship to a Limousin cross heifer with a Limousin heifer calf from Coleburn Farm, Longmorn, Elgin which realised £2,900. The Reserve Championship award went to a Limousin cross heifer with a Limousin heifer calf also from Coleburn Farm which realised £2,500. The best Simmental sired heifer with calf was presented to Ardhuncart Farms, Kildrummy and realised £2,700. Top price of the sale was £4,500 for a show cow a six year old Limousin cross with bull calf from Wattie Ritchie, Tamala, Whitecairns.
“All classes of heifers with calves met a strong demand but would look better value than of late. Cows with calves were easily sold at keen rates."
