STORE CATTLE - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (12th March) sold 1,834 store cattle and four young calves.

Bullocks (1,161) averaged 183.8p (471.4kg)  (+0.1p) and sold to 245.8p per kg for 354kg Simmental crosses from Raeffin, Keith and £1,280 gross for a 846kg Charolais cross from Janefield, Aberchirder.
Heifers (607) averaged 175.7p (420.9kg) (-5.5p) and sold to 248.9p per kg for 442kg Simmental crosses and £1,320 gross for a pen of 532kg Simmental crosses all from Cairntack, Belhelvie.
Bulls (66) averaged 167.5p (+4.8p) and sold to 252.9p per kg for 174kg Montbelairde crosses from Cairntack and £910 gross for a pair of 572kg Limousin cross from Newseat of Schivas, Ythanbank.
Young calves (four) averaged £130 and sold to £225 gross.

"Top quality strong cattle easily maintained recent high rates while secondary lots slightly less money. All classes of yearlings continued to sell extremely well".
