STORE CATTLE - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (5th March 2010) sold 1,786 store cattle and 13 young calves.

Bullocks (1067) averaged 183.7p (477.6kg) (+0.3p) and sold to 244.4p per kg  for a 360kg Limousin cross from Shenval, Ballindalloch and £1,180 gross for a pair of 700kg Charolais from Woodbank, Drumblade.
Heifers (679) averaged 181.2p (434.9kg) (+2.8p) and sold to 265.6p per kg and £1,450 gross for a pen of 546kg Simmental crosses from Drumneachie, Aboyne.
Bulls (40) averaged 162.7p (-3.2p) and sold to 199.5p per kg for a pen of six Charolais from Helenamore, New Aberdour and £910 gross for a 690kg Charolais from Olrig Mains, Castletown.
Young and weaned calves (13) sold to £450 gross.

Overall Aberdeen and Northern Marts sold 2,229 bales of fodder.  Inside barley straw sold to £17.20 per bale to average £13.65. Outside barley straw sold to £12.20 per bale to average £10.60.  Hay sold to £25.50 per bale to average £22.48.  Silage sold to £14.50 per bale to average £12.20.
