PRIME CATTLE - FULL REPORT
THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (17th June) 82 prime cattle.
Under 30 Month - Prime bullocks (34) averaged 160.5p (+7.9p) and sold to 171p per kg for a 700kg Limousin from Caskieben, Kinellar, and purchased by Woodhead Brothers, Turriff, and £1,279.95 gross for a 805kg Limousin from Lower Affleck, Whiterashes.
Prime heifers (29) averaged 169.5p (+12.8p) and sold to 179p per kg for a 620kg Limousin and £1,176 gross for a 700kg Charolais from Darnabo, Fyvie, both purchased by Woodhead Brothers.
Young bulls (five) averaged 129.8p (+11.7p) and sold to 130p per kg and £786.50 gross for a 605kg Aberdeen-Angus from Upper Mossend, Hatton.
30 to 48 Month - Bullocks (five) averaged 140.1p (+18.5p) and sold to 145p per kg for a 665kg Simmental from Drumfrennie Farm, Banchory and £1,115.40 gross for a 780kg Limousin from Mains of Leask, Slains.
Heifers (nine) averaged 131.7p (+4.6p) and sold to 145p per kg for a 550kg Charolais from Drumfrennie Farm, and £952.20 gross for a 690kg Charolais from North Auchininna, Fortrie.

Beef cows (162) averaged 116.5p (+4.7p) and sold to 166.9p per kg and £1,235 gross for a 740kg British Blue from Burnside of Edingight, Grange.
Dairy cows (seven) averaged 84.5p and sold to 93.9p per kg and £755 gross for a 740kg Friesian from Dyke and Dale, Evie, Orkney.
Farrow bulls (19) averaged 93.8p and sold to 118.4p per kg for a 815kg Simmental from Bush Farm, Crathie and £1,095 gross for a 1,130kg Simmental from Drums of Muirake, Cornhill.

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (17th June) sold 249 prime sheep.
New season lambs (108) averaged 188.3p per kg (-5.3p) and sold to 319.1p per kg and £150 gross for 47.5kg Texel crosses from Milltown of Birness, Ellon.
Old season lambs (141) averaged 128.8p per kg (-22.3p) and sold to 157.7p per kg for 39kg Texels and £88 gross for 58kg Texels from Redbanks, Tankerness.
New season SQQ up to 45.5kg (70) averaged 192.9p per kg (-7.9p).
Old season SQQ up to 45.5kg (80) averaged 130.8p per kg (-22.8p).
Aberdeen and Northern Marts held their annual show and sale of Texel lambs in conjunction with the North of Scotland Texel Sheep Club Judged by Gavin McIntosh of Ian J McIntosh Butcher of Fraserburgh and Rosehearty. Champion pair of lambs was awarded to G L Stuart, Milltown of Birness, Ellon for a pair of 47.5kg Texel crosses realising £150 per head and 319.1p per kg and sold to the Judge. Reserve pair was a pair of 45kg Texel crosses from I F Moir, Easter Bo, Fisherie which realised £100 per head and 222.2p per kg were also purchased by the Judge.
Cross bred lambs light per head: Milltown of Birness £85; Backhill of Thornton, Bourtie £81.50; Newton of Edingight, Grange £80.50.
Cross bred lambs heavy per head: Nether Savoch, Longside £93; Milltown of Birness £91; Skilmafilly, Auchnagatt, Milltown of Birness £89.
