STORE CATTLE - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (16th July) sold 900 store cattle and twelve young and weaned calves.

Bullocks (510) averaged 172.8p (-1.3p on the yr) and sold to 217.6p per kg for a 340kg Limousin from Glebe of Diesher, Boat of Garten and £1,230 gross for a 756kg Limousin from Mill of Auchintoul, Aberchirder.
Heifers (379) averaged 167.5p (-5.5p on the yr) and sold to 210.1p per kg for a 414kg Limousin from Crannabog, Rothienorman and £1,160 gross for a pair of 554kg Simmental crosses from Glenapp Estates, Ballintrae.
Bulls (11) averaged 144.4p (nc) and sold to 175.8p per kg for a pair of 364kg British Blues from Auchenhalrig, Spey Bay and £800 gross for a 544kg Limousin from Springburn, Kintore.
Young and weaned calves (12) averaged £311.66 and sold to £530 gross.
  
In the Annual Turriff Agri-Parts Sponsored Show and Sale of Store Cattle and Weaned Calves judged by Alan J Meston, Chapelton, Stonehaven Overall Champion was a 544kg Charolais steer from Innes Farms, Helenamore, New Aberdour which realised £980 and sold to A & A Beattie, Newton of Wardhouse, Insch and Reserve Champion was a 660kg Charolais heifer from G. L. Lawson, Huntly Lodge Farm, Huntly which realised £1,140 and sold to Reidhall Farms, Edzell.

STORE, BREEDING and FEEDING SHEEP - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (16th July) sold 482 store lambs, breeding and feeding sheep.

New season store lambs (56) to £67 for Texels from South Croft, Fisherie.
Feeding ewes (426) averaged £59.02 (-£4.05) to £105 for Texels from Hallbreck, St Margarets Hope.

"Store lambs keenly sought after and short of buyers requirements. Feeding ewes slightly cheaper on the week".
