STORE CATTLE - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (2nd July) sold 311 store cattle and nine young calves.

Bullocks (135) averaged 173.6p (-5.6p) and sold to 232.6p per kg for 172kg Limousin from Braehead, Drummuir and £935 gross for 566kg Charolais crosses from Ordhill, Tarves.
Heifers (159) averaged 158p (-9p) and sold to 202.2p per kg for 314kg Charolais crosses from Barns, Crathes and £970 gross for a 610kg Aberdeen Angus from Glenapp Estate, Ballantray.
Bulls (17) averaged 161.8p (+10.8p) and sold to 223.1p per kg for a 242kg Saler cross from Whitebog, Fortrose and £810 gross for a 578kg British Blue cross from Brencher House, Birsay.
Young calves (nine) sold to £340 gross.

"A very mixed show for quality which reflects in the average decrease".

Ewes and lambs (88) to £50 for Cheviot bm ewes with double lambs from Manachie, Forres and Mule bm ewes with double lambs also from Manachie and a suffolk wm ewe with single lamb from Bayview Croft, Fisherie.
New season store lambs (20) to £77.50 for Suffolks from 26 Philip Street, Carnoustie.
Old season store lambs (74) to £73.50.
Feeding ewes (696) averaged £66.12 (nc) to £145 for a Texel tup from Mains of Tillymorgan, Culsalmond.
