STORE CATTLE - FULL REPORT
THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (12th February) sold 1,109 store cattle.
Bullocks (648) averaged 181.6p (468.9kg) (+0.8p) and sold to 230.1p per kg for a 326kg Limousin cross from Easter Corrie, Botriphnie and £1,305 gross for a pen of 806kg Charolais crosses from Lescraigie, Turriff.
Heifers (421) averaged 170.9p (460.3kg) (-2.9p) and sold to 253.9p per kg for a pair of 512kg Simmental crosses and £1,340 gross for a pair of 550kg Simmental crosses from West Mulloch, Banchory.
Bulls (40) averaged 150.4p (-3.6p) and sold to 200.5p per kg for a pair of 182kg Simmental crosses from Broadgreens, Banchory - Devenick and £920 gross for a 668kg Charolais from Mormond Prop, New Pitsligo.
"Trade tended to be sharper on the week".

Overall Aberdeen and Northern Marts sold 3580 bales of fodder. Inside barley straw sold to £14.40 per bale to average £12.60. Outside barley straw sold to £7.80 per bale to average £7.20. Hay sold to £28.50 per bale to average £22.10. Silage sold to £13 per bale to average £11.80.

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (12th February) sold 2,525 store lambs, breeding and feeding sheep.
Breeding sheep (313) to £134 for 4 crop Lleyn ewes from Achavrole Mains, Halkirk.
Ewes with lambs (15) to £62 for Suffolks from Auchtygall, Peterhead.
Store lambs (1,202) to £84.50 for Suffolks from East Banteith, Dunecht.
Island lambs (265) to £86 for Cheviots from Mailland, Sand.
Feeding ewes (730) averaged £66.83 (+£3.22) to £158.50 for Suffolks from Old Voy, Toab.
“Grit ewes sold well and were short of buyers requirements. The entry of store lambs showed the effects of the recent winter period, with quality lambs still meeting a good trade. Feeding ewes dearer on the week.”
