STORE CATTLE - FULL REPORT
THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (20th August) sold 294 store cattle and nine young calves.
Bullocks (168) averaged 167.9p (+1.0) and sold to 193.8p per kg for a 338kg Simmental cross from Tullyglens, Dunphail and £1,060 gross for a pen of 650kg Limousin crosses from Commonty, New Deer.
Heifers (112) averaged 162.8p (+4.3p) and sold to 184p per kg for 288kg Simmental crosses from Tullyglens and £950 gross for a 586kg Limousin cross from Bendauch, Kinellar.
Bulls (14) averaged 146.2p (+11.6p) and sold to 151.1p per kg for a 470kg Limousin from Mains of Elrick, Auchnagatt and £1,085 gross for a 766kg Charolais from Oldhall, Watten.
Young and weaned calves (nine) sold to £385 gross.
"Store cattle were keenly bid for resulting in an increase on averages on the week".

Island sheep (81) to £87 for Suffolk wm ewes from Brough, South Nesting.
Breeding gimmers and ewes (45) to £112 for Suffolk gimmers from Stonyford, Tarland.
Feeding ewes and rams (760) averaged £55.08 (-£3.74) and sold to £110.50 for Suffolks from Bilboa, Daviot.
“Store lambs were slightly easier against last week’s extreme rates. Feeding ewes met a sound trade with fleshy ewes still selling well.”
