STORE CATTLE - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (13th August) sold 872 store cattle.

Bullocks (484) averaged 166.9p (+4.7p) and sold to 201.8p per kg for a 446kg Charolais from Burnside of Whitefield, Forglen and £1,170 gross for a pair of 706kg Limousins from Woodend, Muir of Ord.
Heifers (374) averaged 158.5p (+0.5p) and sold to 355.7p per kg and £1,800 gross for a Limousin from Brae of Coynach, Mintlaw.
Bulls (31) averaged 134.6p and sold to 155.5p per kg for a 418kg Simmental from Tillydown, Rothiemay and £850 gross for a 624kg Charolais from Mains of Auchmedden, Pennan.

"A quality offering was forward and all classes were keenly bid for."

In the W N Lindsay sponsored show and sale of store cattle and weaned calves judged by Mr J Watson, Pityot, Muchalls, the Overall Champion was a 666kg Limousin cross steer from D Hirst, 2 Bogie Street, Huntly which sold for £1,130 and sold to E Buchan, Glenisla, Torphins. Reserve Champion was a 512kg Limousin cross steer from J Stuart, Blenoe, Chapeltown which sold for £1,060 to C Davidson, Inschfield.
