STORE CATTLE - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (6th August) sold 197 store cattle and 26 young calves.

Bullocks (120) averaged 162.2p and sold to 204.5p per kg for a pair of 330kg British Blue from Cairntack and £880 gross for a 588kg Charolais from Cairntack.

Heifers (59) averaged 158p and sold to 184.2p per kg for a pen of 304kg Charolais from East Comalegy, Drumblade and £950 gross for a 696kg Limousin from Tannachie, Stonehaven.

Bulls (18) averaged 120.4p and sold to 139.8p per kg for a 440kg Charolais from Culdrain Lodge, Gartly and £700 gross for 548kg Simmental from Hammer, Skelwick.

Weaned calves (26) averaged £399 and sold to £600 gross.

STORE, BREEDING and FEEDING SHEEP - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (6th August) at the special sale of breeding gimmers and ewes (suitable for early lamb production) sold 1238 breeding, store and feeding sheep

Breeding gimmers and ewes (585) to £172 for Beltex cross gimmers from Backhill, Castle Fraser. Breeding rams (seven) to £140 for a Texel two shear from Bogiefeulach, Tornaveen.
Store lambs (152)
to £77.50 for a Texel from Newton of Edingight, Grange. 
Feeding ewes and rams (494) averaged £55.19 (-£12.34) and sold to £103 for a Texel from Auchenbreddie, Insch.

"Quality well bred Suffolk Cross and Continental gimmers were keenly bid for, older ewes and plainer sorts met a more selective demand. A lighter show of feeding ewes were easier on the week."
