STORE CATTLE - FULL REPORT
THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (30th April) sold 2,505 store cattle and seven young calves.
Bullocks (1,399) averaged 189.5p (+1.5p) (430kg) and sold to 258.1p per kg for 310kg Charolais crosses from Olrig Mains, Castletown and £1,190 gross for a 764kg Simmentals from Rhevackin, Kiltarlity .
Heifers (1,062) averaged 177.6p (-3.4p) (403kg) and sold to 370.8p per kg and £1,320 gross for a 356kg Limousin cross from Housebay Farms, Stronsay.
Bulls (44) averaged 159.6p (+10.0p) and sold to 190.8p per kg for a 262kg Charolais cross from Farmton, Tough and £840 gross for a 578kg Charolais cross from Rovie, Rogart.
Young calves (seven) averaged £170 and sold to £390 gross.
"Another useful selection of cattle met a similar trade".

Barley straw sold to £14 per bale. Haylage sold at £16.50. Silage sold to £14 per bale to average £9.40.

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (30th April) sold 1,604 ewes with lambs at foot, store lambs and feeding sheep.
Ewes with lambs at foot (558) to £66 for Tex wm with lamb & a half from Rivestone, Kinnoir. Store lambs (403) to £87 for Suffolks from Roundhome, Corse and Monlettie, Methlick.
Feeding ewes (643) averaged £65.54 (-£7.22) to £129 for Suffolks from Lendrum, Turriff.
“Ewes and lambs met a strong trade and were short of buyers requirements.”
