STORE CATTLE - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (29th May) sold 280 store cattle and young calves

Bullocks (112) averaged 176p (-5p) to 252.1p per kg for a pen of 242kg Charolais from Crossroads Farm, Rothiemay and £1100 gross for a 722kg Limousin from Bendach, Kinellar.
Heifers (118) averaged 175p (+9p) to 257.2p per kg for a pen of 208kg Charolais from Crossroads Farm and £995 gross for a 648kg Limousin from Glinburn, New Byth.
Bulls (28) averaged 164p (+8p) to 210.2p per kg for a pair of 226kg Simmentals from Overhall, Fyvie and £1140 gross for a 724kg Limousin from Braehead, Drummuir.
Young and weaned calves (22) averaged £260 per head and £400 gross.

"Store cattle were a useful selection forward with grass fed cattle wanted".

STORE SHEEP - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (29th May) sold 2,542 store lambs, breeding and feeding sheep.

Store lambs (266) to £88 for Texel crosses from 14 Hill Street, Newmill.
Ewes with lambs (1,420) to £60 for Mule hoggs with single lambs from Whitehouse Farm, Lumphanan.
Feeding ewes and rams (810) averaged £62.20 (+£7.14) to £101 for Texel rams from 14 Hill Street, Newmill.

 “Ewes with lambs at foot eased slightly on the week.  Feeding ewes were a good sound trade.”
