STORE CATTLE - FULL REPORT
THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (15th May) sold 1,441 store cattle and two young calves
Bullocks (849) averaged 177.9p (-2.3p) to 232.4p for a pen of 370kg Charolais from Cairntack, Belhelvie and £1,370 gross for a 800kg Charolais from Hilton Park, Banff.
Heifers (567) averaged 172p (-7.1p) to 228.5p per kg for a 302kg Charolais from Parrock, Rothiemay and £990 gross for 544kg Simmental cross from Bonnethill, Newmill.
Bulls (25) averaged 157p (+17p) to 185.5p per kg for a 248kg Charolais from Portstown, Inverurie and £1,030 gross for a 660kg Limousin from Braehead Farm, Drummuir.
Young calves (two) averaged £270 per head and £380 gross.
"With a useful show forward, trade was similar".

Heifers sold to a top of 198p per kg for a pen of 265kg Charolais from Crowtaing and £810 gross for a 454kg Charolais from Sunnybank, St Ola.

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (15th May) sold 3,369 store lambs, breeding and feeding sheep.
Store lambs (165) to £87 for Suffolks from Cardenstone, Cushnie.
Island lambs (44) to £62.50 for Cheviots from Garth Farm, Mossbank.
Ewes with lambs (2,115) to £68.
Feeding ewes and rams (1,045) averaged £64.90 (-£0.75) to £100 for Continentals from Mains of Duncanstone, Insch.
“Ewes with strong, well mothered lambs at foot were once again very easily sold. Feeding ewes were also an excellent trade”.
