STORE CATTLE - FULL REPORT
THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (27th March) sold 1653 store cattle.
Bullocks (989) averaged 181p (+0.9p) to 229.1p per kg for a pen of 299kg Charolais crosses from Knowehead, Aberchirder and £1130 gross for 650kg Charolais cross from Lower Cushieston, Meikle Wartle.
Heifers (632) averaged 177p (+6.6p) to 288.4p per kg for a pen of six 475kg Simmentals from Corniehaugh, Rothiemay and £1400 gross for a 632kg Simmental from Corniehaugh, Rothiemay.
Bulls (32) averaged 161.5p (+7.2p) to 222.8p per kg for a 202kg Charolais from Hindstones, Aberchirder and £1090 gross for a 688kg Limousin cross from South Crichie, St Katherines.
In the Cydectin sponsored show and sale of store cattle judged by Bill Cameron, Burnside of Edingight, Grange, Keith Overall champion was a 566kg home bred Limousin cross Steer shown by Messers G and D Anderson, Brucewells, Netherley which realised £1100. Reserve Champion was a home bred 510kg Limousin cross Steer from A & J Nairn, Clashnoir, Glenlivet which sold at £1020.

Hay sold to £18 per bale to average £14.20. Silage sold to £12.50 per bale to average £10.60. Turnips sold to £15 per tonne to average £11.40.
