STORE CATTLE - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (20th March) sold 1522 store cattle, 57 young farmers cattle and 12 young calves.

Bullocks (925) averaged 180.2p (+0.2p) to 218.6p per kg for a 366kg Limousin cross from Mid Fleenas, Nairn and £1230 gross for a 728kg Simmental cross from Euchries, Keith.
Heifers (562) averaged 170.4p (-2.6p) to 217.9p per kg for a Limousin cross from Mains of Arnage, Ellon and £1040 gross for a 580kg Simmental cross from Euchries.
Bulls (35) averaged 164.6p (+1.7p) to 199.3p per kg for a 276kg Limousin cross from Branchill Farm, Dallas and £1010 gross for a 618kg Charolais from North Crannoch, Keith.
Young calves (12) averaged £257 per head and £295 gross.

Heifers sold to a top of 225p per kg and £1200 gross for a 530kg Charolais cross from Sebay Cottage, Tankerness.

Fodder
Overall Aberdeen and Northern Marts sold 2067 bales.  Inside barley straw sold to £9 per bale to average £6.95. Outside barley straw sold to £4.40 per bale to average £3.10. Hay sold to £17 per bale to average £14.40.  Silage sold to £13 per bale to average £10.20. Turnips sold to £15.50 to average £12.60.
