STORE CATTLE - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (6th March) sold 1597 store cattle and four young calves.

Bullocks (866) averaged 178.4p (+0.7p) to 240.5p per kg for a 264kg Limousin from Easter Corrie, Botriphnie and £1130 gross for a 704kg Simmental cross from Kingshouse, Harray.
Heifers (676) averaged 173.4p (+3.3p) to 239.1p per kg for a 276kg Charolais from New Noth, Gartly and £1200 gross for a 574kg Simmental cross from South Greycairn, Newmill.
Bulls (55) averaged 157.2p (+21.3p) to 180p per kg for a 278kg  Limousin cross from Cairnside, 36 Oldhall and £900 gross for a 662kg Charolais from 52 Conval Street, Dufftown.
Young calves (four) averaged £167.50 per head and £200 gross.

"Another good show of cattle met an excellent demand at slightly increased rates".

Overall Aberdeen and Northern Marts sold 4531 bales.  Inside barley straw sold to £9.60 per bale to average £7.60. Outside barley straw sold to £6 per bale to average £4.20. Hay sold to £20 per bale to average £15.60.  Silage sold to £13.50 per bale to average £11.40. Turnips sold to £24 per tonne to average £21.
