PRIME CATTLE - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (18th June) 119 prime cattle.

Under 30 Month - Prime bullocks (50) averaged 171p (nc) and sold to 189p per kg for a 640kg Limousin from Dykenook, Netherley, and £1,377 gross for a 765kg Limousin from Cowiehillock, Echt, and purchased by Woodhead Brothers, Turriff.
Prime heifers (50) averaged 171p (nc) and sold to 190p per kg for a 500kg Limousin from Rivestone, Kinnoir, and purchased by Woodhead Brothers, and  £1,158.40 gross for a 640kg Charolais from Milton of Inkhorn, Auchnagatt.
Young bulls (10) averaged 162p (-3.0p) and sold to 169p per kg for a 755kg Charolais from Burnside of Gight, Gight, and £1,328 gross for a 800kg Charolais from Burnside of Gight, and purchased by C Anderson, Dumfries.

30 to 48 Month - Bullocks (seven) averaged 147p (-6.0p) and sold to 162p per kg for a 590kg Limousin from Berrytop, Netherley, and £1,183.20 gross for a 870kg Limousin from Easdale, Turriff.
Heifers (two) averaged 141p (-12p) and sold to 144p per kg for a 540kg Aberdeen-Angus from Troup Home Farm, Gamrie, and  £834 gross for a 600kg Luing from Easdale, Turriff.

Beef cows (211) averaged 123.5p (-0.2p) and sold to 166.9p per kg for a 680kg Limousin from Shannas, Clola and £1,255 gross for a 910kg Simmental from Burnside of Dipple, Fochabers.
Dairy cows (four) averaged 98.9p (+12.4p) and sold to 116.9p per kg for a 680kg Friesian from Overton Farm, Memsie and £935 gross for a 825kg Friesian from Quholmslie, Stromness. 
Farrow bulls (16) averaged 105.3p (+1.5p) and sold to 120.1p per kg and £1,375 gross for a 1,145kg Limousin from Moss-side of Gight, Fyvie.

PRIME SHEEP - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (18th June) sold 459 prime sheep.

New season lambs (290) averaged 159p per kg (-20p) and sold to 174.5p per kg for 43kg Suffolks from Muirton, Corse and £79.50 gross for 50kg Continentals from Clinterty, New Aberdour.
Old season lambs (152) averaged 116p per kg and sold to 122.8p per kg for 46kg Suffolks from Mains of Swailend, Newmachar and £61 gross for 52kg Suffolks from 41 Mains Street, New Deer.
New season SQQ up to 45.5kg (193) averaged 166p per kg.

Aberdeen and Northern Marts held their annual show and sale of Texel lambs in conjunction with the North of Scotland Texel Sheep Club. There were 25 pairs forward with Richard Henderson of Woodhead Brothers, Turriff as the Judge.
Champion pen of lambs was awarded to B Buchan, Clinterty, New Aberdour for a pair of 41kg pure bred Texels’s realising £140 per head and 341.5p per kg . 
Reserve pen was a pair of 42kg cross bred Texels I H Anderson, Newton of Carnousie, Forglen which realised £88 per head.
