PRIME CATTLE - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (8th January) 102 prime cattle.

Under 30 Month - Prime bullocks (27) averaged 165.5p  and sold to 186p per kg for a 575kg Limousin from Mains of Dumbreck, Udny, and £1,320 gross for a 750kg Blonde D’aquitaine from Windyedge Croft, Aberchirder, and both purchased by Woodhead Brothers, Turriff. 
Prime heifers (54) averaged 161.3p and sold to 185p per kg for a 535kg Charolais from Auchmaliddie Mains, Maud, and purchased by West End Butchers, and £1,183.35 gross for a 735kg Charolais from £1,183.35 from Tillyorn, Corse.
Young bulls (seven) averaged 151.5p and sold to 162p per kg for a 690kg Limousin from Mains of Dumbreck, and purchased by C Anderson, Dumfries, and £1,396.80 gross for a 970kg Simmental from Mill of Balmaud, King Edward.
30 to 48 Month - Bullocks (four) averaged 145.5p  and sold to 160p per kg for a 640kg Limousin from Mains of Tertowie, Kinellar, and purchased by Raymond Smith, Aberdeen, and £1,147.30 gross for a 745kg Charolais from Mains of Tertowie, and purchased by C Anderson.
Heifers (10) averaged 150.6p and sold to 168p per kg  for a 700kg Charolais from Caskieben, Kinellar, and  £1,229.25 gross for a 825kg Simmental from Ha, Durran.

Beef cows (185) averaged 118.4p (n/c) and sold to 147p per kg for a 575kg Simmental from Kirkton, Golspie and £1,245 gross for a 910kg Charolais from Home Farm, Haughton, Alford. 
Dairy cows (16) averaged 84.5p  (n/c) and sold to 127.4p per kg for a 530kg Friesian from Berriedale, St Margarets Hope  and £855 gross for a 720kg Fleck, Dunrossness. 
Farrow bulls (seven) averaged 98.8p (n/c) and sold to 125.4p per kg and £1,285 gross for a 1,025kg Limousin from Culhay, Forbes.

Old season lambs (2288) averaged 159.8p per kg (+15.2p) and sold to 173.5p per kg for a pen of 51kg Texels from 2 Wood Cottages, Newmachar and £91.50 gross for a pen of 58kg Texels from Newseat, Balthangie, Cuminestown.

SQQ up to 45.5kg (1807) averaged 160.7p per kg (+13.5p).
