STORE CATTLE - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (27th February) sold 1,646 store cattle.

Bullocks (980) averaged 177.7p (+2.2p) to 233.8p per kg for a pen of 278kg Charolais from Easter Corrie, Drummuir and £1220 for 694kg Charolais from Hilton Park, Banff.
Heifers (646) averaged 170.1p (+1.1p) to 255.6p per kg  for a pair of  489kg  Simmental crosses from Tillyminate, Gartly and £1300 gross for a pair of 531kg Simmental crosses and a 536kg Simmental cross also from Tillyminate.
Bulls (20) averaged 135.9p (-16.6p) to 161.1p per kg for 416kg Charolais from Portstown, Inverurie and £830 for 616kg Simmental from Drumsleed, Fordoun.

"A good show of cattle met a strong demand".

Heifers sold to a top of 176.6p per kg for a 385kg Charolais from Hammer Greeny, Dounby and £890 gross for a pen of 570kg Charolais from Eruadale, Rousay.

Fodder
Overall Aberdeen and Northern Marts sold 2340 bales.  Barley straw sold to £8 per bale to average £7.20. Outside barley straw sold to £5.40 per bale to average £3.80. Hay sold to £23 per bale to average £17.40.  Silage sold to £14.50 per bale to average £11.40. Turnips sold at £24 per tonne to average £22.
