STORE CATTLE - FULL REPORT
THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (20th February) sold 1835 store cattle and 23 young calves.
Bullocks (1058) averaged 175.5p (-3.9p) to 248p per kg for a 256kg Charolais cross from Wester Tillathrowie, Gartly and £1210 gross for a 704kg Charolais cross from Ladymill, Alford.
Heifers (707) averaged 169p (-3.6p) to 226.5p per kg for a pen of 234kg Charolias crosses from Easter Corrie, Botriphnie and £1045 gross for 646kg Charolais from Mulben Mains , Mulben.
Bulls (70) averaged 152.3p (+2.5p) to 189p per kg for 246kg Limousin cross from East Mains of Byth, New Byth and £1180 gross for 826kg Charolais from Olrig Mains, Castletown.
Young calves (23) averaged £137.30 per head and £220 gross.
"With a large and more commercial offering forward, averages are slightly back but trade was excellent".
