STORE CATTLE - FULL REPORT
THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (10th April) sold 2236 store cattle
Bullocks (1251) averaged 187.7p (+1.5p) to 243.8 for a pair of 365kg Charolais from Kincragie Farms, Lumphanan and £1200 gross for a 626kg Limousin cross from Bendauch, Kinellar.
Heifers (962) averaged 179p (+1.4p) to 286.5p per kg for a 384kg Limousin cross from East Bogheadly, Rickarton and £1180 gross for a 466kg Limousin cross from Nether Drumallochie, Glenkindie.
Bulls (23) averaged 157p (-2.2p) to 190.4p per kg for a pair of 260kg Limousin crosses from Branchill, Dallas and £1090 gross for a 692kg Charolais from Elzy, Staxigoe.
In the Norvite sponsored show and sale of store cattle judged by Mr John Bell of Kinglasser, Fraserburgh. Overall Champion was a 488kg Limousin cross bullock from Miss S Tinney, Glebe of Deishar, Boat of Garten which realised £1000. Reserve Champion was a 458kg Limousin cross steer from JG & E Thomson, Nether Muireskie, Maryculter which sold for £940.
"All classes were an excellent trade resulting in the highest averages of the season so far".

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (10th April) sold 2,209 store lambs, breeding and feeding sheep.
Store lambs (617) to £98 for Suffolk crosses from Tofthills, Clatt.
Island lambs (170) to £81 for Cheviot Lambs from Millhouse, Harray.
Ewe lambs (7) to £91 for Texels from Mains of Cowie, Stonehaven.
Ewes with lambs (422) to £57.50 for Cheviot/Mule Gimmers with doubles from Auchtygall, Peterhead.
Feeding ewes (993) averaged £75.68 (+£5.52) to £148 for Texel ewes from Mains of Orchardtown, Udny.
“Ewes with lambs at foot met the best trade of the season so far. Feeding ewes again sold at extreme rates”.
