PRIME CATTLE - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (9th April) 131 prime cattle.

Under 30 Month - Prime bullocks (62) averaged 161.3p (-5.5p) and sold to 181p per kg for a 630kg Charolais from Auchmaliddie Mains, Maud, and purchased by Woodhead Brothers, Turriff, and £1,629.75 gross for a  1,025kg Simmental from 4 Kirkview, Lumphanan, and purchased by Raymond Smith, Aberdeen.
Prime heifers (41) averaged 159p (+1.0p) and sold to 188p per kg for a 505kg Limousin from Auchmaliddie Mains, and purchased by A W Herd and Sons, Aberdeen, and  £1,219.30 gross for a 685kg Blonde D’aquitaine from Freefield House, Old Rayne, and purchased by Woodhead Brothers.
Young bulls (10) averaged 155.8p (-3.5p) and sold to 161p per kg for a 835kg Charolais purchased by Raymond Smith, and also for a 935kg Charolais which grossed £1,505.35 purchased by C Anderson from Mains of Elrick, Auchnagatt.

30 to 48 Month - Bullocks (eight) averaged 145.2p (-8.0p) and sold to 163p per kg and £1,189.90 gross for a 730kg Limousin from East Newtonleys, Stonehaven.
Heifers (10) averaged 150.8p (+1.0p) and sold to 162p per kg for a 650kg Limousin from Mains of Elrick, and  £1,176.60 gross for a 740kg Charolais from Blelack, Dinnet.

Beef cows (150) averaged 131.8p (+1.1p) and sold to 169.8p per kg for a 645kg Limousin from Moss-side of Gight, Fyvie and £1,385 gross for a 980kg Charolais from Mains of Elrick, Auchnagatt.
Dairy cows (23) averaged 99.8p (+3.4p) and sold to 131p per kg for a 500kg Friesian from Howe Farm, Stromness and £895 gross for a 770kg Friesians from Berriedale, South Ronaldsay. 
Farrow bulls (seven) averaged 105.7p (-8.7p) and sold to 128.4p per kg for a 1,055kg Simmental from Dunecht Home Farms, Dunecht and £1,455 gross for a 1,135kg Charolais from Earlsfield, Kennethmont.

Old season lambs (1246) averaged 187.7p per kg (-0.9p) and sold to 222.5p per kg for 40kg Charolais from Logie Durno, Pitcaple and £97 gross for 61kg Texels from Upper Kirkton, Dyce.

SQQ up to 45.5kg (797) averaged 197.5p per kg (+0.1p).
