STORE CATTLE - FULL REPORT
THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (3rd April) sold 1,799 store cattle including the Aberdeen Angus show and sale.
Bullocks (726) averaged 186.2p (+5.2p) to 240.1p per kg for a pair of 304kg Charolais from Mains of Curr, Nethybridge and £1,110 gross for a 732kg Limousin from Whitehaugh, Alford.
Heifers (456) averaged 177.6p (+0.6p) to 256.4p per kg for a pen of 390kg Simmentals from Greenfold, Bridge of Marnoch and £1,350 gross for a pair 531kg Simmentals also from Greenfold.
Bulls (15) averaged 159.2p (-2.6p) to 179.4p per kg and £1,030 gross for a 674kg Charolais from Bridge of Westfield, Thurso.
"With a very useful show of cattle forward the classes continued to rise in value".

Heifers sold to a top of 192p per kg for a 490kg Simmental from West Brough Farms, Sanday and £950 gross for a 505kg British Blue from Maesquoy Farms, Harray.
Fodder
Overall Aberdeen and Northern Marts sold 1,976 bales. Inside barley straw sold to £7.60 per bale to average £6.20. Outside barley straw sold to £3.40 per bale. Hay sold to £20 per bale to average £14.40. Silage sold to £12.50 per bale to average £10.20. Turnips sold to £16 per tonne to average £11.50.
ABERDEEN ANGUS CATTLE - FULL REPORT
THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (3rd April) sold 602 Aberdeen Angus cattle.
In the Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society sponsored show and sale judged by Raymond Smith from West Lodge, Milltimber the overall show Champion was a 556kg steer from Elsness, Sanday which realised £1,020.
Reserve champion was a 538kg steer from Mains of Pitlurg, Keith which sold at £1,010.
Bullocks (361) averaged 181p (+32.5p on the year) to 221.7p per kg for a trio of 230kg from North Retannach, Rothiemay and £1,045 gross for a 650kg from Kirkside, Banff.
Heifers (241) averaged 170.3p (+32.7p on the year) to 197.6p per kg for a pen of 253kg from North Retannach and £920 gross for a pair of 488kg from Rivestone, Kinnoir.
