STORE CATTLE - FULL REPORT
THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (10th October) sold 941 store cattle and 26 young calves
Bullocks (543) averaged 158.4p (-0.6p) to 192.2p per kg for a pair of 540kg Charolias from Dorsell, Alford and £1,250 gross for a 766kg Charolais from Westerton of Old Rayne, Insch.
Heifers (388) averaged 153.4p (+0.4p) to 235p per kg for a 468kg British Blue cross and £1200 gross for a 514kg British Blue cross both from 48 John Morrison Crescent, Maud..
Bulls (10) averaged 121p (-26p) to 129p per kg and £1,050 gross for a 814kg Charolais from Mains of Auchmedden, Pennen.
Young calves (26) averaged £210 per head and £420 gross.

Heifers sold to a top of 192.7p per kg for a 410kg Limousin from Gorn, Shapinsay and £855 gross for a 508kg Charolais from Kastal.
Fodder
Aberdeen and Northern marts fodder sale sold 2280 bales. Barley straw sold to a top of £6 per bale to average £5.30. Hay sold to £7.80 per bale.
WEANED CALVES - FULL REPORT
THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (10th October) sold weaned calves
Bullocks (703) averaged 171p and sold to 228.4p per kg for a 348kg Charolais from Auchorachan, Glenlivet and £1,050 gross for a 606kg from Newton Cottage, Acharacle.
Heifers (451) averaged 161.3p and sold to 280.9p per kg for a 356kg Limousin from Achdregnie, Glenlivet and £1,100 gross for a 490kg from Newton Cottage.
In the Marshall sponsored show and sale the Overall champion was a homebred, 11 month old 434kg Charolais cross steer from G & D Anderson, Brucewells, Netherley, which realised £860. Reserve champion was a 480kg Charolais cross steer also from G & D Anderson, Brucewells which realised £870. Both animals were purchased by the judge Mr M Steel, Wicker Inn Farm, Banchory.
