THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (9th May) sold 2,762 store cattle and three young calves
Bullocks (1,349) averaged 156.6p (+3.7p) to 200.5p per kg for a 384kg Charolais from Birselawsie, Midmar and £1060 gross for a 784kg Charolais from Roundhome, Corse.
Heifers (1,373) averaged 150.2p (+1p) to 258p per kg for a 314kg Belgian Blue from Housebay, Stronsay and £1000 gross for a pair of 503kg Simmentals from Connachie, Kellas and a 536kg Limousin from Nether Glasslaw, New Pitsligo.
Bulls (40) averaged 145.4p (+1.7p) to 191.9p per kg for a pair of 211kg Limousin from Tillykerrie, Tarland and £660 gross for a 492kg Shorthorn from Gremista Farm, Gremista.
Young calves (three) averaged £303 per head and £310 gross.
"With an excellent number of stock sold, prices continued to increase with bulling heifers at extreme rates".

Heifers sold to a top of 257.9p per kg for a 314kg Belgian Blue realising £810 from Housebay.

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (9th May) sold 3,953 store lambs, breeding and feeding sheep.
Ewes and lambs (2,711) to £53.50 for Suffolk gimmers with single lambs from North Redhill, Rothienorman. Store lambs (314) to £70 for Suffolks from East Blairdaff, Kemnay.
Feeding ewes (928) averaged £47.51 (+£2.14) to £90 for Suffolks from Tillyeve, Udny.
“A large entry of ewes with lambs sold very well to a good ringside of buyers. Feeding ewes and rams were also a very brisk trade”.
