THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (2nd May) sold 2,555 store cattle and 16 young calves


Bullocks (1,470) averaged 152.9p (-1.4p) to 198.1p per kg for a pen of 308kg Belgian Blue from Mill of Newton, Insch and £1150 gross for a 700kg Charolais from Ladymill, Alford.


Heifers (1,045) averaged 149.3p (-1.0p) to 230.8p per kg for a 338kg Belgian Blue from Housebay, Stronsay and £1000 gross for a pair of 497kg Limousins from Mains of Drumdollo, Drumblade.


Bulls (40) averaged 143.7p (+2.6p) to 171.1p per kg for a 228kg Simmental from Gunhill, Inverurie and £830 gross for a pair of 595kg Limousins from Newseat, Schivas.


Young calves (16) averaged £174 per head and £270 gross.
