THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (11th January 2008) sold 2,647 Store lambs and feeding sheep.



Store Lambs (1,747) to £45 for Beltex from Ironhill, Rosehearty.


Feeding ewes (900) averaged £29.25 (-£2.34) to £52.50 for Suffolks from South Tillydesk, Ellon.
"Store lambs were dearer on the week. Feeding ewes were a mixed entry, selling at similar rates".

Bullocks (848) averaged 127.5p and sold to 167.6p per kg for a pair of 373kg Charolais Kennieshillock, Lhanbryde and £860 gross for a 706kg Simmental from Murrayscairn, Alves and a 714kg Charolais from Bridgefoot, Kemnay.


Heifers (452) averaged 125.5p and sold to 157p per kg for a 430kg Charolais from Kennieshillock and £830 gross for a 686kg Charolais from Sunnyside, Meikle Wartle.


Bulls (47) averaged 105.3p and sold to 131p per kg for a pair of 271kg Limousins from 88 Station Rd, Ellon and £660 for a kg from Mains of Arnage, Ellon gross.


Young and reared calves (14) averaged £105 per head to £195 gross.
