THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (30th April) sold store 751 cattle comprising of 333 organic cattle and Three adult head of breeding cattle.
Bullocks (270) averaged 150.4p (+9p) to 185.8p per kg for a 358kg Limousin from Loanhead, Logie Coldstone and £795 gross for a 496kg Charolais from Loanhead.
Heifers (148) averaged 149.5p (+13p) to 184.7p per kg for a pen of 360kg Charolais from Burnton Farms, Laurencekirk and £860 gross for a 622kg Limousin from Michaelmuir Croft, Ythanbank.
In the Autoworm sponsored show and sale of store cattle, in conjunction with Towns and Carnie judged by Mr Colin Scott of Wester Biffie, Maud, Overall Champion was an 11 month old 468kg Limousin bullock from Loanhead, Logie Coldstone which realised £800. Reserve Champion was a 412kg Limousin heifer from Leys Castle, Inverness which sold for £700. Both animals were purchased by the judge.
"Commercial cattle were a good show and met a similar trade".
Organic bullocks (180) averaged 164.4p to 185.5p per kg for a 407kg Limousin from Auchlunkart Home Farm, Mulben £945 gross for a pen of 553kg Charolais from Glencorrie, Dufftown.
Organic heifers (153) averaged 159p to 231.3p per kg for 320kg Belgian Blue from Auchlunkart Home Farm and £780 gross for a pen of 491kg Aberdeen Angus from Ellands of Brodie, Brodie.
