THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (18th April) sold store 2,204 cattle and seven young calves


Bullocks (1,343) averaged 154.2p (+2p) to 194.7p per kg for 326kg Charolais crosses from Charleston, Barrock, Thurso and £1120 gross twice, firsly for a 728kg Simmental and for a pair of 695kg Simmental and Saler crosses all from Deskie Farm, Glenlivet .


Heifers (831) averaged 149.3p (+2.7p) to 260.1p per kg for a 296kg Belgian Blue from Sheilpark, Rothiemay and £985 gross for a 736kg Aberdeen Angus from Bareflathills, Elgin.


Bulls (30) averaged 135.6p (+1.8p) to 167.3p per kg for 254kg Blonde D'Aquitaine's from Newton Farm, Tullynessle and £980 gross for 792kg Charolais from Hilton of Culsh, New Deer.


Young calves (seven) averaged £227 per head and £330 gross.
