THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (4th April) sold 2,343 store cattle which included 842 Aberdeen Angus cattle and four young calves
Bullocks (845) averaged 149.5p (+4p) to 190p per kg for a pen of 279kg Charolais from Waulkmill, Course and £1030 gross for a pair of 692kg Charolais from Darnford, Durris.
Heifers (622) averaged 140.8p (+0.5p) to 185.3p per kg for a pair of 278kg Charolais from Hillock, Lower Cabrach and £810 gross for a 626kg Limousin from Craigshowdie, Ardallie.
Bulls (34) averaged 126.6p (+0.4p) to 137.2p per kg for a 322kg Limousin from Cluny Home Farms, Sauchen and £780 gross for a 602kg Simmental from Drumsleed, Fordoun .
Young calves (four) averaged £140 per head and £180 gross.
"Grazing cattle increased in value on the week strong cattle similar".

Ewes and lambs (79) to £45.50 for Suffolk wm from Mill of Glanderstone, Insch.
Feeding ewes (1,331) averaged £35.34 to £84 for Suffolks from Woodhead of Cairness, Fraserburgh.
“A good entry of Ewes with lambs at foot sold well. Store lambs were easier on the week. Feeding ewes met a reduced trade against the recent extreme demand.”
