PRIME CATTLE - FULL REPORT

THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (September 6th) 113 prime cattle, and 175 OTM cattle.

Prime bullocks (52) averaged 126.3p (+0.9p) and sold to 145p per kg for a 645kg Limousin from Whiteside, Tullynessle and for a 700kg Charolais which also realised top price per head of £1,015 from Corskellie Farm, Rothiemay both purchased by Mathers, Inverurie.

Prime heifers (60) averaged 129.4p (+1.5p) and sold to 150p per kg for a 540kg from Whitehouse, Lumphanan, and purchased by Rhinds of Elgin and £894 gross and for 745kg Charolais from Burnton, Laurencekirk.

Young bull (one) averaged 109p (nc) and sold to 109p per kg and £572.20 gross for a 525kg Limousin from Whitehouse.

“A plainer show met an excellent demand and were short of buyers requirements”.

Beef cows (142) averaged 81.05p (+3.82p) and sold to 110p per kg for a 705kg Limousin and £835 gross for 880kg Charolais from Gordonston, Torphins

Farrow bulls (seven) averaged 59.6p (-4.46p) and sold to 65p per kg for a 890kg Limousin from Keam Farms, Hopeman, and £725 gross for a 1,170kg Aberdeen-Angus from Prettycur, Hillside.

Heifers (18) averaged 95.58p (+11.23p) and sold to 115p per kg for a 475kg Limousin from Craigscorrie, Beauly and £775 gross for a 785kg Limousin from Waterside, Forbes.

Steers (six) averaged 89.7p (+3.89p) to 111p per kg for a 660kg Charolais from Redbanks, Tankerness, and £795 gross for a 850kg Simmental from Berrytop, Netherley.

New season lambs (1,137) averaged 94.2p per kg and sold to 107p per kg for 43kg Continentals from Conrock Farm, Rothes and £54 gross for 58kg Texels from 2 Wood Cottages, Kingseat.

New season SQQ up to 45.5kg (673) averaged 96.4p per kg.
