THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (19th October) sold 947
weaned calves, 1,255 store cattle, 78 bulls and 16 young calves.
Weaned calves
In the Charles J. Marshall (Aberdeen Limited) sponsored Show and Sale of weaned and suckled calves judged by Mr James B. Smith, Auchnavaird, Auchnagatt the Overall Champion was a 458kg Charolais from G. & D. Anderson, Brucewells, Netherley which realised £720. Reserve champion was a 452kg black Limousin from R. S. Duncan, Auchdregnie, Glenlivet which realised £700.

Bullocks (398) averaged 134.2p (+3.2p) to 166p for a pen of 307kg Limousin from Crichie, Inverurie and £720 gross for a 606kg Charolais from Ballagan Farm, Culloden Moor.
Heifers (290) averaged 123.9p (+3.9p) to 176p per kg for a 370kg Limousin from Achdregnie and £660 gross for a 404kg Limousin also from Achdregnie.
Shetland & West Highland weaned and suckled calves

In the Harbro sponsored Show and Sale of Shetland and West Highland weaned and suckled calves judged by Mr George M. Masson, Denhead, Catterline, Stonehaven the Overall Champion and the Best Shetland Calf was a 466kg Charolais from A. G. Flaws, Ringesta, Quendale which realised £700. The Best West Highland Calf went to a 274kg Charolais from J. M. Kerr, 11 Upper Barvas, Isle of Lewis which realised £450.
Bullocks (97) averaged 137.1p to 174p per kg for a pen of 256kg Charolais from South Scord, Muckle Roe and £545 gross for a 377kg Charolais from 3 Drynoch, Carbost.
Heifers (162) averaged 124.7p to 152.7p per kg for a 324kg Charolais from 11 Upper Barvas and £500 gross for a 374kg Charolais from Ringesta.
Store Cattle
Bullocks (638) averaged 122.4p (+1.5p) to 144p per kg for a pen of 436kg Charolais from Strath Farm, Watten and £850 gross for a 715kg Charolais from Newlands, Fintray.
Heifers (617) averaged 119.7p (+3p) to 159p per kg for a pair of 504kg Simmental from Lyne of Linton, Sauchen and £830 gross for a 552kg Limousin also from Lyne of Linton.
Bulls (78) averaged 129p per kg to 175.3p per kg for a pen of 211kg Limousin from Dunveaden House, Bettyhill and £580 gross for a 610kg Limousin from Quoybelloch, Deerness.
