THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (30th November) sold 707 store cattle and 40 young and reared calves.


Bullocks (437) averaged 120.1p (-2.6p) to 168.4p per kg for a pen of 12 Charolais from Cairntack Farm, Belhelvie and £780 gross for a 672kg Simmental from Upper Tillenhilt, Midmar.


Heifers (238) averaged 115p (+1.8p) to 171.6p per kg for a 408kg Limousin from Crannabog, Rothienorman and £742 gross for a 622kg Limousin from The Shed, Briach, Rafford.


Bulls (32) averaged 87p (+2.1p) to 115.5p per kg for 342kg Limousin from Stirlinghillock, Whitecairns and £700 gross for a 722kg Aberdeen Angus from Glassel Farms Ltd, Glassel.


Young and reared calves (40) averaged £150 per head to £275 gross.

Heifers sold to a top of 125p per kg for a pen of 5 Limousin from Little Hurtiso, Holm and £630 for a pair of 542kg Simmentals from Springvalley.



Fodder
The company sold 740 bales. Barley straw sold to £4.40 per bale to average £3.80. Hay sold at £10.20 per bale to average £9.60. Silage sold to £8 per bale to average £7.60.
