THAINSTONE, Aberdeen and Northern Marts (23rd November) sold 922 store cattle and six young calves.

Bullocks (552) averaged p (+3.1p) to 207.4p per kg for a 376kg Charolais from Braigiewell, Echt and £885 gross for a 752kg Charolais from Inverichnie, Banff.

Heifers (348) averaged p (nc) to 189p per kg for a 238kg Charolais from Smallburn Farms, Elgin, and £710 gross for a 620kg Charolais from Wester Invery, Strachan.

Bulls (22) averaged 84.9p (-19.6p) to 145.5p per kg and £465 gross.
Young and reared calves (six) averaged £90 per head to £140 gross.

"Well bred and well presented cattle stock were at increased rates, other types harder to cash."
